What happens if you sell without certification?
1. The listing is blocked. Amazon.ae and Noon require ECAS, GMP, halal or other certificates depending on the category. This is enforced by the platform, independently of any regulator.
2. Goods do not clear customs. Without valid documents, imports are held or rejected.
3. Fines and seizures. Particularly for food, cosmetics and health-related items.
4. Reputational damage. Product removals hurt seller rating and customer trust, and that consequence outlasts the compliance fix.
The first and second of these are worth reading together. They are independent failure points: a seller can satisfy the platform and still be stopped at customs, or clear customs and still find the listing removed.

Are there exceptions?
Non-regulated goods, clothing, stationery, accessories, need no certification. This is a genuine exception.
Drop-shipping from outside the UAE might bypass platform checks, but it violates DED rules. It is an evasion, and it works only until it is noticed.
Handmade, personal-use items may be tolerated in small quantities, with no guarantees, which is the operative phrase.
